benefits of rpm
for management of diabetes in pregnancy
Recent studies conclude remote patient monitoring (RPM) for the management of diabetes mellitus in pregnancy is superior to a traditional paper-based approach in achieving glycemic control and is associated with improved maternal and neonatal outcomes (Kantarowska et al. 2023).
Specifically, RPM patients vs. patients managed with traditional paper logs:
submitted more glucose values
were more likely to achieve glycemic control in target range
achieved the target glycemic range sooner
had lower rates of preeclampsia
had infants with lower rates of neonatal hypoglycemia in the first 24 hours of life
“Before Malama, my whole visit was spent trying to decipher patient logs. Now that we’re using Malama, patients can sync their data ahead of time, I can see what they eat, and in between visits, my patients can access snack ideas, meal plans, and additional resources almost like a blog where people can relate and just tell their stories. My patients absolutely love Malama.”
